North Canton, Ohio-- The 18U Stark County Terriers finished 3-1 in the first annual Terriers Invitational Tournament played this past weekend at Walsh University and Kent State University. The Terriers placed 3rd in the 8 team invitational tournament with their only loss a 3-2 heartbreaker in game 2 to the eventual tournament champions; The Ohio Glaciers. The Terriers bounced back after the loss by beating the Great Lakes Giants in their final pool play game and Seneca Valley, PA in the 3rd place consolation game Sunday afternoon. Strong pitching once again helped the Terriers throughout the tournament. Donnie Macko, David Devine, and Kyle Osco picked up wins. Cameron Palmer pitched an impressive no decision effort in game 2 versus the Glaciers allowing just 2 runs on 2 hits and striking out 6. Joe Smith, Evan Malinowski, and Osco provided strong relief efforts. Osco picked up the win in the 3rd place consolation place game allowing no runs on 1 hit and striking out 2 in the final 2 1/3 innings. Catcher Matt Davis led the Terriers hitting attack all weekend by batting .643 (9-14) with 2 doubles, a home run, and 10 RBI's. Center Fielder Connor Seemann .543, Osco .333, double, triple, 5 RBI's, and Jake Mowrey .333, triple. The Terriers now 13-4 on the season will play in the always competitive Ohio Yankees 4th of July Tournament this coming weekend to be held at Kent State University and the Ballpark in Hudson.
