Canton, Ohio- An overall good weekend for the Canton Terriers as they swept the Ohio Orioles (W13-3, W7-4) on Saturday and split a doubleheader with Shannon Fence (L1-0, W5-1) on Sunday. Saturday Game 1- The game was scoreless until the Terriers came a live with a six run scoring rally in the bottom of the 4th that was started when Michael Chack (Uniontown, Ohio/Malone University) singled with the bases loaded earning two RBI’s. The Terriers scored five more in the 5th and two more in the 6th totaling their thirteen runs. Pitching for the Terriers in game one were Sam McWhorter (East Sparta, Ohio/Urbana College) and Kevin Storch (North Canton, Ohio/Walsh University) with the close. Game 2- The Terriers may not have scored as many runs this game but they scored all seven of them in the first two innings. In the bottom of the first, Nick Ball (Akron, Ohio/Shawnee State University) hit a three run stand up double over the centerfielders head and then was driven in by Brett Domonkos (Middleburg Heights, Ohio/Volunteer State Community College) who singled to right giving the Terriers four runs in the first. Then in the 2nd, leftfielder Evan Nicholson (North Canton, Ohio/Denison University) hit a double scoring Jesse Coblentz (Hartville, Ohio/Malone University) followed by Steve Wido’s (North Royalton, Ohio/Walsh University) single scoring Tyler Weisel (Louisville, Ohio/Shawnee State University) and Evan Nicholson (North Canton, Ohio/Denison University). Pitching for the Terriers in game two were Matt Wilson (Canton, Ohio/Olney Central College) and Joe Elmerick (Louisville, Ohio/Fairmount State College) with the close. Sunday Game 1- Game one against Shannon Fence was the only loss the Terriers suffered all weekend. The Terriers were only able to achieve two hits in game one leaving them scoreless. This game was a battle of the pitchers as the Terriers Josh Graham (Carrollton, Ohio/Mercyhurst College) pitched to 24 batters with nine strikeouts. Also pitching for the Terriers was Tyler Asbury (Louisville, Ohio/Vernon College). Game 2- Game two went slightly different for the Canton Terriers as they scored five runs to Shannon Fence’s one. After the Terriers already scored in the 2nd, they scored again in the 3rd when Shannon Fence walked a run in and then Steve Wido (North Royalton, Ohio/Walsh University) hit a 2 run double to the centerfield wall. The Terriers defense held Shannon Fence to only one run, giving the Terriers the win 5-1. Pitching for the Terriers were Cory Johnston (Medina, Ohio/Indian River State College), Joe Elmerick (Louisville, Ohio/Fairmount State College) and Kevin Storch (North Canton, Ohio/Walsh University).
