After falling to the Grand Lake Mariners in game one of Saturday's doubleheader, the Stark County Terriers looked to split the series but fell short again by a final score of 3-2. Unlike game one, game two was more of a pitchers duel with only a combined five runs and eight hits. Just like game one, the Terriers struck first in game two, scoring one run in the second inning. Vince Chiera (University of Akron) led off the inning with a bloop double to right field. Chiera (University of Akron) moved to third on a passed ball and scored a pitch later on Phil Bednar's (University of Akron) laser up the middle that was deflected by the Mariners pitcher McCallum to the second baseman, retiring Bendar (University of Akron) but giving the Terriers an early lead. The Mariners would answer back in the third, scoring three runs on a single, two doubles and a hit batsman, giving the Mariners a two run lead. The Terriers would cut the lead in half in the fourth inning after Vince Chiera (University of Akron), who doubled to center field, scored on a throwing error that allowed Phil Bednar (University of Akron) to reach base safely. In the seventh, the Terriers would threaten, but would not capitalize on Dennis Vaughn's (Bowling Green State University) one out double. The Terriers go to 15-16 on the season and travel to Lima, Ohio, Sunday to take on the Lima Loco's in two must win games for the Terriers. Game time is set for 4:00 PM.
