Lima, Ohio – In what could be defined as a pitchers duel, the Stark County Terriers took on the league leading Lima Loco's Sunday in a must win game. But with an unfortunate error and no run production, the Terriers found themselves slipping away from the final playoff spot as they would lose to the Loco's 3-0. Terriers starting pitcher Duke Williams (Southern Arkansas University) had a strong outing, pitching four plus innings, only allowing five hits and one unearned run on a two out fielding error. Offensively, the Terriers did not get much going all game, failing to string together multiple hits in an inning, though they did have seven hits. Only two Terriers ever reached third base, both times with two outs. The Loco's scored their first run on a two out fielding error in the fifth inning and added two insurance runs off a bases loaded double in the sixth. Getting hits for the Terriers were Ross Yoder (Mount Vernon Nazarene University) with a single; Jason Patton (Kent State University) with two singles; Rob Wendzicki (Eastern Michigan University) with a single; Dennis Vaughn (Bowling Green State University) with a pinch hit single; and Tyler Maag (Southern Arkansas University) also with a single. The Terriers fall to 15-17 on the season and find themselves in a must win situation as they take on the Loco's again in game two of Sunday's doubleheader.
