In what can only be described as one of the greatest baseball games these eyes have ever seen, the Canton Terriers defeated the Louisville, KY Orangemen 2-1 in a twelve inning pitchers duel. Combined, the starters of Thursday's night game pitched over fourteen innings of no hit baseball, with five of those innings coming from Terriers starter Aaron Swenson and the other ten from Orangemen starter Brain Edelen. Swenson faced thirty-four batters, striking out nine and only allowing two hits. Edelen faced thirty-six batters, striking out fourteen, not allowing a hit but did have one unfortunate throwing error, allowing the Terriers to score in the seventh inning. The Terriers scored the first run of the game in the seventh inning when with one out and two runners on, Todd Myers hit a high chopper in front of the plate which would be fielded by Edelen. Edelen rushed his throw and made the only mistake he would make all day, throwing the ball over the glove of his first baseman, allowing Pat Conley to score from second and giving the Terriers a late one run lead. An inning later, the Orangemen would answer back, scoring one run off of no hits. With two outs and the bases loaded, Swenson could not retire Orangemen Adam Duvall and would walk him on a full count, tying the game and forcing it into extra innings. It would not be until the twelfth inning when the Terriers would finally snap the Orangemen no hitter on Jon Lutton's game winning triple to the wall in right field, scoring Todd Myers and giving the Terriers their second win in the NABF College World Series. The Terriers are in action again tonight, Friday August 3rd as they take on Cecil County, MD Reds at 7:00 PM.
